This info is not exactly what you asked for; good luck finding a better answer if this is not enough. Hope it'll help; sorry if it doesn't.

The inexpensive ClickArt CD has 4 weights and styles of their Algerian look-alike, "Tangiers." Quality varies on this disc. There are a number of legal lookalikes of "plain" Algerian you could condense mechanically, if your font editor is equal to that task:

Brendel/Canon'Greenstreet/Summitsoft "Saskatchewan"
Corel Bundle includes 2 Algerians, not condensed
Opti "Achilles"
SoftMaker "Alfredo"
MS Home Publishing includes an Algerian
Fontbank "Algemaria"

Oh no! I've discovered a font blog! And I thought I'd cured my addiction to fonts! (I'd say that yes, I have a strong willpower, but no, I've already downloaded several of the fonts you've mentioned.) Fonts are bad m'kay! (Except they're not! No, they're lovely!)

Thanks for this blog, I think I'll have to check it out frequently. Curses...

Anyone know of a free Algerian Condensed substitute? I've searched the whole Internet, but found only the pay versions.

TIA!

Hi - great idea! You're presumably aware of the great Divide by Zero site, where there's plenty of quirky and well designed fonts for you to download? Good.

Glad I got that off my chest.

This is fantastic! It's almost not worth the effort to sift through the crap-to-quality ratio of free fonts on the internet. Resources like this make me sing. Sing praises.

Good work! Like the poster above says, to get to free fonts you often have to swim through a river of crap. I look forward to seeing where this goes.
