Flood Fonts
Another German foundry, Flood Fonts offers several distressed typefaces that look especially good at about 10 or 12 points (small!) Be sure to grab Hammerhead and Squid.
fuelfonts
If you checked out some of the band fonts from yesterday, you’re already seen some of Claes Källarsson’s work without realizing it. He’s got two pages of excellent fonts like Rollergirls and Makimango for download.

Here’s a very nice (and very usable) serif font that you probably haven’t found (unless you troll obscure European government websites looking for .ttf files): Union is available from the Danish Ministry of Education (Click the “UNION” and “UNIONBD” links).
Tomorrow: The U.S. Homeland Security Department’s whimsical take on Comic Sans.
Update: Looks like the Danes have taken their font and gone home.

To get things rolling, here are three of the best foundries offering free fonts on the web:
Cape-Arcona
While these Germans don’t crank out a staggering number of free fonts, the ones they do offer are some of the best you’ll find. You might as well grab the entire collection, a few fonts have vanished from the free page. CA Ginger Mint is one of my all time favorites.
Maniackers Design
In the high-energy (and often completely insane) Japanese font universe, Maniackers has been a constant presence. It’s worth a visit just to wade through the enormous selection. Check out Pico, Childish and Digits.
Misprinted Type
This Brazilian site offers a ton of great free grunge (or “worn” or “distressed” or whatever you’re supposed to call them) fonts. I like: Dirty Ego, Downcome and Shortcut.
